Aims Apportionment

Raving clarified your aims, you now proceed to apportion your capital accordingly. Portions will be earmarked for long-term, medium-term or short-term capital appreciation or for income. In the case of long-term capital appreciation there will be no need for the constant reviewing of the holding, which can be 'locked away' for 10, 15 or more years without the necessity of 'switching' to any other security (unless some completely unexpected reverse takes place in the fortunes of the industry involved), though of course the holding can be added to should a 'moment of opportunity' for further buying present itself. Such a long-term capital appreciation policy would be the aim for, say, 'provision for children's future, whilst the children themselves are still young. You would be providing a 'nest egg' for each of your children to give them a good start in life.
